Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge Providence, RI

I grabbed my Pentax Q camera and braved the crisp autumn morning to explore the 195 District Park in Providence, Rhode Island. I just got the standard prime lens for it and I wanted to try it out on the skyline and other areas of the city. Despite being a 10 year old digital camera, I enjoy using it because it challenges me to think about how I want to frame the composition within its small screen.

I started my journey at the Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge, the new pedestrian bridge spanning the Providence River. It is amazing that over a decade ago a crumbling highway deprive everyone of the views of the skyline. The open space was quiet and seemed to make the city bigger than it is. It was also great to see murals covering some of the offices spaces in and around the city - I was able to capture one without the view being obstructed by a parking lot full of SUVs. I made one quick stop to Kennedy Plaza to capture the famous "Superman Building" then back home to warm up.
